Celebrity Deaths

So yesterday and today we lost Ed McMahon, Farah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson. That's a lot of celebrity deaths real fast.

It used to seem like we'd only get one or two a big death's year. Maybe a Red Skelton and a Walter Matthau would pass, but that was about it. Why does it seem like the celebrity deaths are coming harder and faster these days?

Simple. There are WAY more celebrities now than there were a few generations ago. So there are WAY more celebrities that have to die. This spat of deaths comes mainly from the Baby Boomer set of celebrities, back when only movies or network TV could make you a star.

Can you imagine when the next couple generations of "celebs" start dying? Celebs from the age of reality TV and the Internet. Celebs from this age when EVERYONE gets their 15 minutes of fame. There's gonna be like a dozen celebrity deaths a day and no one will bat an eye. Megan Fox, gone! Clay Aiken, gone! Jared the Subway Guy, gone! Those montages during the Oscars are gonna start being longer than the whole awards ceremony.

I'm just saying - it's a numbers game.
